Here's a little story about what the idol judge in my country did in the audition....
Judge: It's terrible.
Contestant: Well, I disagree with you. With a litlle bit of practice and experience, I know I can be a good singer. I'm probably not there yet, but at least I tried my hardest and that's the most important thing.
Judge: (Silence) I'm sorry, did you just sing again?
Regarding your question, I think Simon is a very good judge and the show would've been a lot worse without him.

I think he's great!! I feel sorry for the people who had to deal with him in the first series but seriously, after all these years, you've gotta know that's what you're risking when you audition!
And besides, can you imagine trying to be nice to thousands and thousands and thousands of really, really bad singers?? It would very tough to handle. And I know because I have to listen to myself over and over again every single day!!
