Sweet Sixteen Party Themes And Ideas?!

Question: My sweet sixteen birthday is coming in about 6 months (june 21). I really have no idea what I want to do. I am having a really hard time coming up with a theme. ANY suggestions would be great!!!! My best friend and I have been thinking up ideas, from pool party to palm springs, anything goes. I think about 25-35 people will be coming, closest people only invited. I want to wow them, but now empty my moms pocket. I don’t know how much money I will be getting towards my party, so give me your most expensive, and your pocket pinching ideas.
Thanks for all the help,
~Maggie

Rent a party room and do a 'Red Carpet' themed party where everyone dresses up like celebrities on the red carpet- you can take photos and parents can be the paparazzi. This is a good opportunity for your friends to reuse their favorite 'Homecoming' or formal dresses (you could do the same or really go all out), get your hair done (by a friend or at the salon), and go really glamorous!!

The budget doesn't have to break the bank- you could go low budget by paying to rent a space but catering the party yourself (plastic champagne glasses, punch, and tons of appetizers (hors d'oeurves) that you can buy premade and heat in the oven). Make a play list on the computer, or iPod, put it on shuffle, and hook it up to speakers. This could probably be done with $300 or less.

If you and your parents want to go all out, rent the space, cater the event, hire a DJ (you could even get a professional photographer), and the decorate extravagantly!

Most importantly- remember, it is just Sweet Sixteen (not grad party, not wedding) so feel good and have fun- whatever you do!!!

play pin the tail on the donkey.

try a a big party and theme it from a place u really like. for ex. mines gonna be japanese themed, so it will be alot of japanese activities and food and entertainment. u can have friends dress in like the traditional outfits or something

i'd do like miami at night, neon lights, bling..loui vuition, you know?.....

your theme should be jazzy girls dress as flappers and the guys as jazz and blues singers like duke eillington and cab calloway. with that theme u won't b 4gotten

70's there clothing rocks, and it's coming back into fashion now. Have a look at a few bands from the 70's, great music.

Or person, naughty and nice. Meaning, you're nice around the folks, but then you can go and out get... naughty! ;)

Pool parties are always a good hit.

If you don't want anything too out of the ordinary, try just a normal party. And if you don't want to empty your mothers pockets, get each one of your friends to bring a plate of food or some drinks. Assign a food to each person on their invite. That way you get lots of kind of foods, and you don't waste money on food for everyone.

Good luck with whatever you do though! ;)

dude don't have a theme!! Your 16 now! act like it! Sure have a little of some kind of a theme! such as flowers on the table, around the food. Just wear jeans and a nice shirt! be yourself! If you have too big of a theme, it could cause your friends too be uncomfortable. If you have a pool have a pool party! I don't think too many guys would have a good time, if you over do it!!! Have fun! Merry Christmas!

oooh** I love questions like this...

first of all i like the japanese idea already meansioned, but I think you should try to make your friends (ND YOURSELF) STEP OUTSIDE THEIR COMFORT ZONES FOR THE NIGHT. LIKE, YOU COULD ALL GO DO SOMETHING NOBODY THERE WILL HAVE EVER DONE BEFORE. iF YOU MAKE YOUR PARTY JUST LIKE ANYBODY ELSES NOBODY WILL REMEMBER IT, BUT IF IT IS EXOTIC AND UNEXPECTED THAN PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER IT.

OH my gosh, i just realized I've been typing in all caps lol sorry.

But, ya definately choose an exotic theme

for my cousins sweet sixteenb we all went down to the old train bridge by my house and decorated it (not used anymore) there were streamers and banners everywhere, than we also hung ropes and swings etc off of it and make our own mini waterpark sort of thing, than at the exact second that she turned 16, we all pushed her off (regular jumping spot in the summer) it was her first jump and she loved it. Than we all jumped in holding hands and got an awesome pic from the shore. Afterwards we were freezing cold so we got a bonfire going and ate cake and that sort of things. Lastly, we all retreated into a few massive tents, and, once Trace (birthday girl) was asleep, we dragged her mattress out into the water and tied a rope to it so when she woke up she would be stranded in the4 middle of the river. For presents, everybody bought her things for her party, what I mean is, that everybody gave her gifts before her actual pary by like a week and a half and she was able to save a ton, also her parents agreed to pay her half of whatever her friends donated back into getting clothes and that sort of stuff. For this, we didn't really have a theme, but for a lot of the girls the bridge jumping was a first, as well as even camping for some.

As for my sweet sixteen, me and my 2 best friends all went on a conoe trip for 4 days along a lake. It was really cool and even though it was just us, it was an amazing stress relieving experience, and when I got back I showed everyone else all the crazy pics we took and videos and we all got together (like 10 of us) for just a movie night, where we made pionk popcorn and did each others nails and hair. It was tons of fun, and everybody brought their own supplied so it costed next to nothing.

Ps...don't drink, trust me, you will want to remember this experience

sorry this is so long but bye
