So jamie lynn's boyfriend is 19 years old?!

Question: do you think he should go to jail for making a 16 year old pregnant?

Answers: do you think he should go to jail for making a 16 year old pregnant?

Yes he should. I'm not sure what the law is in their state - but in MOST states the age of consent is 18. In my state, he would be put behind bars.

But this situation is kind of tricky since they started dating (and probably having sex) years ago, when they were both minors.

no.

And hes been with her for a while now...you know they didnt just start doing it....

Yes...by law it's considered rape

But since the Spears are the No.1 Trailer Park Trash family in America .. it's okay.

no, i think that 16 is like the cutoff age. I think anything before that is considered rape.

yes! he's an adult & she's a minor!

Yes. He should go to jail for having sex with her in the first place. She's underage.

They've been together for 4 years. Since he was 14/15 and she was 12/13. There is only a 3 year age difference between them. So no, he shouldn't go to jail. Plus he is stepping up to take care of the child instead of running away. Give him some credit.

16 is bad that is considered illegal as she is under 18 and he is over 18! if she was 18 would be fine or if he was 16 or 17 fine but it is not. As he is over 18!

possibly if her parents were to call the cops on him

I heard that he's 18. I'm not sure about the rules concerning rape and underage sex, but it seems like 16 should be young enough to fall into that category (statutory rape, right?). Plus, how long has she been 16? If she just turned 16 and she's been pregnant for any amount of time that would mean that she could have been only 15 when she got pregnant...

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets in trouble for it. It's called statutory rape.....he should have thought about that first!

no because when your 16 sex is legal, therefore if you want a baby you can at that age.

everyone will think its ok because they met in a church or something creepy!!

i dont like the mum at all!

you never see britneys dad though :\

no..it was her choice to sleep with him too..

YES, Statutory rape!

no cuz they have been dating for several years....! :)

yeah, because he's probably been having sex with her since she's 15 or younger, who knows

well, it really depends on the state and the states laws. in florida it's not illegal, but in some midwestern states it is.
it all really depends.

Wonder why they making a fuss about this guy being 19...but
no one questions the fact....

that Celine Dion married at 18 and her man was waaaay older? How old was SHE when the line was crossed?

Grover Cleveland fathered an illegitimate child with his ward who was under 21 y/o? and STILL became President?

Roman Polanski was NEVER extradited from Europe for diddling a 13 y/o?

Robert Plant and a LOT of rock stars of the 70s didn't get in trouble for being with groupies whose average age was 14?

Rick Springfield dated and lived with then 15 y/o Linda Blair (WITH her mother's consent!)

Elvis was with Priscilla when she was age 14?

Sonny was with Cher when she was age 16?

the late Brooke Astor dropped out of school became pregnant at 16 married the father, a Marine, who was by all accounts an abusive man and she divorced him, she married a 2d time, then married Astor and became one of the richest women in America, she spent all of her life helping the less fortunate?

a number of WWII era Brides were between ages 14 and 19...and had a lot of "premature" babies?

high school literature classes all over the US still glorify and romanticize the story of Abelard and Heloise (the later was 11 and Abelard was well over 30)

an entire religion followed by BILLIONS worldwide is based on the fact that a 14 y/o unmarried pregnant girl gave birth to a person who became known as the "Saviour of the World" and this changed the course of Western Civilization as we know it?

NONE of those men went to jail...so why suddenly should this guy? Look I'm not saying it's ok...but there are many different circumstances and from what I understand the relationship was a consensual one...and such relationships have happened for many years BEFORE people suddently got so Puritanical about it (and speaking of Puritans...did you know they didn't have a problem with their teen daughters sharing a bed with a beau...as long as a board was between them? it was called "bundling"...and yeah, you can guess that board got "misplaced" a number of times...hence the reason why the highest teen pregnancy rate in the USA is placed at 1776 (and for modern times 1957).

Just some more food for thought here....

How many of YOU have relatives who were unwed mothers, or who perhaps were born to unwed mothers ???? I was (my mother was 30 in 1960 when she became pregnant with me and my biological father refused to take any responsibility), and I came out alright and I have a good life...

A three year age difference at the age of 16 is not a big deal to me. The age of consent in most states is 16 for a reason.

Technically, yes, this could be considered statutory rape. But hel-LO?!? They've been living together for a while now, and with her mother's consent (WTF???). In some cases like this, the state may prosecute the parents for neglect before they charge the boyfriend with anything.
