From what I have heard, JamieLynn was the one who was stating that abstinence is the correct thing to do. Apparently she had lied about that. I think parents need to educate their teenagers more about sex or at least how to use protection.
Also, she was living with her boyfriend at the time... She's 16. Her living with her 18/19 year old boyfriend... there is something wrong with that picture. It's a shame that this 16 year old girl is now pregnant. I do not believe she is mature enough to have a child.

What is your question? Did Loretta or Oprah have alot of money when they got pregnant? Jamie was living with her boyfriend! Where the hell was her mom? And you would think she could afford some birth control. Bravo to Oprah for doing great things, but Jamie should be embarrassed.

I think the only reason her being pregnant is something to cause concern is her effect she has on many young girls due to Zoey 101 .. otherwise, hey .. she isn't the first, and SURE as heck wont be the last 16 year old pregnant!
It's not the end of the world, it's just sad...especially with advances that have been made in birth control. Unfortunatly, Jamie is already in the public eye and looked up to my young girls. She has set a bad example, hopefully parents will take this opportunity to explain sex, safe sex and waiting to their children...if they haven't already.

yeah, but they may not had had the chance to use a condom when Jamie Lynn SPears acted like a $lut and chose not use one, i think she asked for it b/c she wanted attention since brit was getting all of it.

True back in those days people did have children at earlier ages and the risk of aids and STDs werent as big a threat...
Today its just not fair to bring a child into this life that early and i almost guarentee it was an acident so therefore she was not practicing safe sex and HOPEFULLY the kid will be born healthy and she doesnt have an STD...

I agree with you but I do have one thing to say. Oprah was raped so thats why she was pregnant as a teen. Anyways I sort of don't think it's Jamie Lynn's fault. If you think about it I mean her sister doesn't set a very good example for her so she couldn't really help herself. I just hope she keeps the baby and her bf stays with her!
And your helping to quash the drama by asking this loaded question? Jamie put herself out there by telling the world she's pregnant so people can say what they wish. And so what if those others had teen pregnancies that does not make it okay. The point as far as I see it is not that she's pregnant but that she's having unprotected sex. She could have gotten an STD. I think it's disgusting and she should be ashamed of herself. If your old enough to have sex then you should be old enough to take care of your body by protecting it from STDs as well as unwanted pregnancies. Kids nowadays don't need a role model like her. Her life is over. Anyone who says different is just a teenage mom themselves trying to justify their bad decision.
EDIT: Excuse me I had sex as a teen but I USED A CONDOM, I USED BIRTH CONTROL, AND I DID NOT GET PREGNANT! So yes I can say she's a filthy tramp. Teenage boys are gross little disease factories. To go at it bare-backed is completely disgusting.
Edit: Luvettes your absoultely right. Condoms when used properly only protect 99.8% and birth control only 96% Yeah, you should instead not use them at all and have ZERO percent protection. Yeah. Real smart.

And lots of children don't ride in carseats and nothing happens to them. Plenty of people have driven drunk without disaster striking as well.
Teen parents can go on to do great things. That still doesn't make the inappropriate behavior OK. By law Jamie Lynn is a child who cannot consent and her boyfriend is an adult and a rapist. Children should not be having sex. It's illegal. That's not even touching on the moral issues.
The point is that this behavior (child sex) is not OK, morally or legally, in this day and age.
She's being lambasted because she used to be a great role model in the past. This is a dramatic change for her. They all thought she was the one decent one and now - kaboom - she's not so decent after all.
However, it's really the boyfriend that should be getting the brunt of the criticism. Her legal status as a child absolves her. She is not legally able to consent to sex and was therefore raped. He's the one that did a kid.
