Maggie Rodriguez?!


Question: I glanced at the Yahoo Top Searches thing on my homepage, and saw that this person was in the top 10. I had never heard of her before, but was interested since she has my first name - thought she must be famous or done something newsworthy to be in the top 10. Found out she is an Early Show host that used to do weekends, but got moved to weekdays. Is that all? I figured that there must be more since how could you get in the Top 10 otherwise? Unless the Early Show is bigger than I thought. I always wondered how Yahoo generated the top 10 list. Maybe it is just a list of examples of top searches, not actually the most searched for things. Wow, I must be really bored...

Maggie Rodriguez is an American journalist and the current anchor on CBS's Saturday edition of The Early Show. On January 7, 2008 she will become a co-anchor on the weekday edition of The Early Show replacing Hannah Storm.

Maggie Rodriguez was born in Miami the daughter of Cuban-born parents. She attended American University in Washington and graduated from the University of Miami in 1991 with a degree in broadcast journalism and Spanish.

She also has reported for the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. Previously, Rodriguez had anchored the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts at WFOR, the CBS-owned station in Miami since August 2000. Rodriguez also worked at KABC, the ABC-owned station in Los Angeles from 1994 to 2000 and for the Univision Network from 1991 to 1994.

She has received six Emmy Awards and two RTNDA Murrow Awards
