I feel he is right in what he says, it may offend those he talks about because they know it is true. If they were to let go of the fact that their great,great grandparents were the slaves(sad thing,yes)but not them, drop the slave mumble talk, stop burning scars to look like slaves,clean up, stand up to the plate for the kids they father by all the girl friends,Act responsible and try to get an education and get a job,be proud of accomplishment.Getting a high school diploma with a grade two education is not an accomplishment.Don't expect the government to come and get you when it has told you to leave an area of danger, than cry the blues of how oppressed you are.
No, he isn't against his own people, he is ashamed of how his race are just waiting for someone to give them fortune for doing nothing to earn it.

Bill Cosby is telling black people what they need to hear. This is tough love. You need to tell people the cold hard truth in order for them to improve and succeed. There aren't enough black people that are trying to move ahead. He wants the race to move forward.
I guess anyone can see only what they want to see, but the Cos has made his message clear for decades and that is blacks need to WAKE UP and look at what is going on around them and I am white and I get his message!

He is not against his own race. He is telling everyone, including his own race...the race of humanity that we have all fallen into the trap of being lazy and complacent and blaming everyone and everything else for it.
It is the truth, everyone just needs to listen a bit more carefully.
