Britney is our modern day Madonna. Madonna doesn't have a Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey type voice but she always got attention. Britney is the same way except her attention reflects badly on her character. The same could be said for Madonna but Madonna always had an "I don't give a f-ck" attitude and that's what made her so iconic. Britney's a little lost. People can say what they want but Britney can actually sing, she's marketed to a younger audience therefore the lipsyncing (to make her appear 16 forever) and all the dancing. I've seen clips of Britney, when she wants to, she can belt out a song. She needs to find a new label. Madonna always had creative control and she took control. Britney's just now starting to get her feet wet because she had everyone else calling the shots since she was 17. Her record company used her body to sell records, not her actual vocal ability. But when you compare most new artists to Britney, they can't hold a candle to her. Sure, some are probably more talented but none of them will ever have the longevity or make the impact that Britney made. All she has to do is get serious and do things the way she intends on doing them. She can do it if she really tries. People are calling her current album a flob but yet, she did nothing to promote it, except for her music video (which anyone can do) and one performance (which wasn't her best) and her album earned a top spot. If that doesn't say anything, I don't know what does. You have to take into consideration that they don't count the sales from Itunes and if illegal downloading wasn't a trend, her album would be even greater. "She's not selling the millions that she used to". Well no sh-t. Neither is anyone else thanks to piracy! I have hope for Britney. She's endured a lot and her new album is a testament that people still care and have faith in her. I take it back, Britney's not the modern day Madonna, she's the modern day, female Elvis. People will be talking about Britney 30 years after her death, just like Elvis.
britney = she became famous because of her mediocre voice and her slutty outfits. i used to like her as a kid but now... meh. :|
beyonce = she's got an amazing voice and she was the frontperson of one of the most popular trios in music history. i actually like her better because she can actually sing and doesn't even need to strip in order to be famous. :)
Honestly Britney, no matter what anyone says, is an entertainer. She knows what to do and say on stage to get people's attention.Even if its for negative reasons, her performances continue to be a topic of conversation that never ends.
Beyonce, she is kind of annoying to me now. I liked her first solo album but now she is just so uhhhh.
It seems like both Britney Spears and Beyonce Knowles became popular because of their sexy images and pretty faces. Since these two have hit the scene, talented singers and musicians just don't exist anymore. If you can't make a video without shaking your *** and gyrating, the records companies are just not interested. But that is sadly the state of today's music. However, these two should not even be mentioned in the same league as the others that you have mentioned.
