Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of The Four Preps. It was originally recorded in 1964 by Gloria Jones, re-recorded by Ruth Swan in 1975 (in a version which influenced, more closely than the original, the 'feel' of the subsequent electro-pop chart-topping cover version which brought the track to the attention of a wider audience), and attained worldwide fame after being covered by Soft Cell. Soft Cell wrote it in 1980. I have the vinyl album with the date.
soft cell did the original and i prefer theirs too
Soft Cell.
I think that Marilyn Manson version is better. It has a air of creepiness that keeps you listen. I also like Manson version of Sweet Dreams.
I've never heard the one from Marilyn Manson so I have to say Soft Cell. Although there is a Spanish version by Alejandra Guzman that I really like. It's called Falso Amor.
