How do you feel about the anorexic look of hollywood gals?!

Question: And how do you discourage your kids from wanting to look like that?

Answers: And how do you discourage your kids from wanting to look like that?

Don't care for it at all. It sends the wrong message to the young people...be thin at all costs!

Encourage your kids to be interested in looking healthy, and being careful about not making rude comments that make them hate their bodies. I hate it when I hear parents say to kids "oh, you're getting a little tubby"...the parent may only be kidding, but the kid takes that to heart. Parents could also be an example and not be obsessed with thinness, too...mothers in particular who constantly talk about dieting and how "fat" they are...as if being thin is all that matters in real life.

disgusted.. I see one of them and its like for christs sake eat something.. if you can see bones then your too skinny.. there isn't much that will discourage besides doing your best to put into them good eating habits and not critisizing them especially if they are teens.. no matter how they grow up teenagers are self conscience about their looks weather they are over weight under weight or just right.

Hollywood has played a major role in the society not just in America but all over the world as well. It is a known fact that Hollywood is one of the sources perfection and setting a standard for it. It is so pathetic that we have come to live in a world as such, where a lot of people who wanted to be accepted base their setting on mass media which is more and more becoming dysfunctional by showing such.

When it comes to children, they will need a lot of support and talks and pieces of advice from their peers and family, as well... the family will really need to play an important role as you are responsible for the child, and the peers too will need the same, supporting each other as they will search for acceptance, and the very acceptance that they will need will be based on what Hollywood has set, which is totally wrong.

The very reason behind those anorexic looks is that the camera will make a person look fatter by 8-10 pounds and no one would want to look fat when it is the only medium where they can get seen and be publicized all around the world... and i don't like the thought of this...

i think it is disgusting
guys dont like that
they want boobs and butt
not bones
they are setting a bad example

It goes to show how hard it is to be a woman! How can a woman feel good about herself when she's with the man she loves but that man would tell her about all the hotties! The fact many men keep Hustler/Playboy/the likes magazines with no regards as to how his woman feels.
I was with a guy who constantly talks about how hot other women are, and his thing for Madonna, but never told me I'm hot! He only tells me I'm pretty or beautiful. I know he like hot women better.
Guys would be with one woman but want to ga ga over other women instead, instead of ga ga over who he has. He hates having only eyes for the one he's with. NOT all men are like that, as I know men who are obviously totally devoted to his one woman. Princes do exist.

I think this thing with guys are partially the reason as to women having anorexia. Many guys, instead of being happy with who he has, he wants to check out the other women instead, and have a nack for making, or trying to make their women not feel good enough about themselves.

I used to feel hurt when that one guy gushes about Madonna and Goldie Hawn (to mention a couple) in front of me, but now, I don't care. He can have them! I'll keep myself open for a REAL man, one who will gladly have eyes only for me, and will fall in love with my heart.

Then just like men can be competitive with each other, same for women. Some women are jealous they don't have the body that anyone thinner than them has.

Actresses are expected by the film makers to be a certain phsique, and will get criticized for gaining only 5 pounds!

Not only actresses should be allowed to be a healthy weight, but models, as well! Our main focus should be health, not size!

I think how we can discourage our daughters, nieces, even younger cousins from wanting to look like that is to teach them that ANYONE who TRULY loves them will love them for their heart, no matter the size they are. They should be taught that if a man does not accept them for their looks, then that is one man they don't need to be with. They should be taught not to be superficial, and should be taught that being too thin is not healthy. However, some people can't help but to be skinny because they have a fast metabolism, and they can eat like a horse without gaining. They should be taguht not to pay too much attention to their looks, but to spend more time reinventing their hearts and personality. True beauty comes from within. Be loved for who you are, not your looks.
