What did John Lennon mean by "I don't believe in Beatles"?!

Question: In his song "God" John Lennon said " I don't believe in Beatles". I was just wondering what he meant exactly by that.

Answers: In his song "God" John Lennon said " I don't believe in Beatles". I was just wondering what he meant exactly by that.

back in the day, after their breakup, there were always rumors about a possible Beatles reunion.Ithink this was a way for John to let fans know that it wasn't gonna happen. His rift with Paul was deep,as the song "How Do You Sleep?"elaborates on.Also, that even with all the money and adoration, after a while it really wasn't much fun to be a Beatle.

I think he was being ironic

He meant that The Beatles were a part of his past...and that chapter of his life was over.

that the Beatles are history it;s time to move on.had good times with all that.but time marches on.

he is saying that was a part of his past and he had evolved from the whole beatles persona.

I think he meant that he didn't believe in anything in general. Believe means to take as true. John did not see the truth in much. His mind was far too esoteric.
