Child hood stars see ? below?!
Question: I am not a huge fan of hollywood but often wonder what happened to some child hood stars that were famous. From what I gather many child hood and teen stars after thier fame is over seem to fall apart. I think of Dana Plato of Different strokes who died b/c of drugs. I think of Britney Spears who is forever chasing her youth and always trying to make a comback and there are many others. My question is what can we teach our children about these people that the world seems to idolize and how can we show them there is a price to pay for fame? What is a good way to encourage stars that may feel like has beens?

Well I think for one thing we need to teach our children that real heroes are not celebrities, that we should be idolizing people for things much more important that singing, dancing, acting, playing sports or being rich. If we expose children to learning about lots of different kinds of people who have done important and wonderful things like curing diseases, making important discoveries, helping people then hopefully they will devlop real idols. That doesnt mean that celebrities cant be heroes, I have great respect for some celebrities, Angeline Jolie for her United Nations work and commitment to her family, Andre Agassi for his opening of a tremendous school in Las Vegas for instance, but I dont idolize people for just being in a move. I think great teachers are much more entitled to be called heroes than a singer who just sings. Its great that they have talent, but we all have talents in different areas
