Question: i heard a lot of shows are on hiatus because of the strike

Answers: i heard a lot of shows are on hiatus because of the strike

You are just now hearing about this? Several shows have already stopped filming and are in re-runs. (Letterman, Desperate Housewives, New Adventures of Old Christine etc)
Since I live in CA I suppose this is bigger news but it's been going on several days already.

Yep. thats true. All daytime shows.

That's right, Dee. Topical comedy was first to go (Stewart, Colbert, Leno, Letterman, O'Brien), then a few sitcoms starring former writers (Louie-Dreyfuss, Fey, Carrell) or shot in front of a live studio audience. Next to go will be soaps, which are scripted about two weeks ahead. Series TV may have as much as half a season's scripts ready to go, so look for Christmas specials to be arriving en masse early, to conserve those shows for later airing.

The writers want a share of the money the studios earn when they put shows and movies online or make them available by phone. Right now, the writer gets nothing from that.

Meanwhile, it's a great time to rediscover reading.

yes.. you can track what shows will be on hiatus and such here
