Why do you but Celeb mags/news if you do?!
Question: I am sick of seeing all that gossipy mags at the grocery store checkout or even on the news! If people quit buying them maybe other newsworthy mags would be more prominent- like National Geographic or Newsweek! Who really cares about Britney Spears anyway? I mean there is really important stuff* going on in the world? Why is it so important to read gossip about people you don't even know??? I mean if they were doing something more special than shopping, getting drunk, or getting arrested, I might understand, but really they are doing lame stuff -why do you care?
*Hunger, politics, religious issues, war, etc.

In the 90's my late gf was in and out of the hospital all the time.
I would call her from work and ask her what she wanted me to bring her to the hospital. It was the usual, chips, drinks, candy, flowers, and almost always she would ask for a supermarket tabloid. She called them "Scandal Sheets". I would buy most all of them displayed at the Check Stand. Quite often they would duplicate stories, but she sure enjoyed them and they made the hospital visits almost fun.

They're dumb I know, but if I can brighten someone's life a little I will. But I never buy them any more.
When I am waiting in line in the cash register I browse those magazines just for fun but I never buy them. I live to see how many celebs have had children with aliens!!!
If I am bored and need something light and silly to read during my lunch break, these fit the bill. It's just an escape from the regular world, I guess. They're more convenient to buy and read than a novel since they are right at the register.
I'll save my heavy novel reading and news-watching for after work :)
I don't waste my time buying garbage celebrity tabloids. Better things to waste my money on.
Because they make great bathroom reading material.
