Why are people so quick to condemn celebrities like Dog the Bounty Hunter or Ale!

Question: The whole Dog this has been so blown out of proportion its ridiculous. There is such a double standard. Rappers make money on calling women all kinds of names and degrading others as well with the "N" word. I also said Alec Baldwin because he was another who's situation was blown our of proportion with his voice message left about his daughter. Or even Oprah and her "school child abuse scandal." Everyone in the media says these celebrities images are tarnished yet I only have more respect for each of them. Why are people so quick to condemn?

Because it makes us feel better that THEY are human and make mistakes just like us, and that humans really do NOT like seeing someone work hard and rise above the rest of us, and be considered special. It's called the Tall Poppy Syndrome.

Whereas Dog thought he was having a private conversation, the word he used doesn't bother me. But I do find it more disgusting that his son sold him out, first by taping him, and then by selling the tape for $15,000. The son just HAD to snap his dad back down, and ruin his career. The son was jealous.

If I ever had to interview the son for a job, I would not hire him, because he has done this once, he's much more likely to do it again.

I think people like to know that all the money & fame there is can't keep you from being human. When a celeb falls, they feel better about their OWN crappy lives.

And about the Dog thing--he completely disrespected his SON, as well as an entire race. He got LESS than he deserved, in my book.

They should set a good example for the fans...and everyone who is listening. I think rappers should do more so than actors because music is more important to kids than any actor in a movie...all of these rappers and musicians need to realize this....ever notice that the only popular ones are the ones who have run ins with the law? It isn't just them, it is all of US who buy the magazines, watch the news and actually care about what they'll do next. It's a sick cycle......

If you're going to go on tv in front of millions of people, it's everything short of being worshipped as a false idol... an icon then, and who in their right mind wants an icon that degrades an entire race of people using slur which is obviously non-descriptive and very non-riteous to say? We look to these icons for strength, not weakness, and cannot follow the image of a fallen failure. Who needs it.

Well for the most part saying certain words with that certain group is not uncommon it does not only happen in the black community with the word "n*gger/n*gga"; but I've heard white people address other whites using the term "trailer park/white trash", Mexicans call each other "w*tbacks", girls call each other "sl*ts/b*tches", homosexuals call each other "q**rs" as terms of endearment. But if you are a straight guy you better not call a girl a b*tch, or a homosexual a q**r, Non-Mexicans should not say w*tback etc...so for the people commenting on here about how blacks can use the word but whites can't thats the reasoning behind it. I do not condone the use of derogatory terms as a form of endearment but it exist in many ethnic/gender groups and its usually as a whole more acceptable when people in that group use it towards each other.

Now I will agree with the double standard that a white person cannot say those terms say in a joking setting such as a comedian but an ethnic minority person can is not fair. Some people would argue that the reason why a minority can use it is because the majority here in the US(white Christian males in particular) has pretty much always had power and persecute minorities, so if these majorities say it not it has a more powerful derogatory meaning and they do not have the history to say it like minorities can. But like I said I don't like this argument. But you can see how this is the case even among minorities: Sarah Silverman jokes about Asians and Blacks though controversial since shes a minority herself, female Jewish, its not career ending.

Maybe its just me personally but I take rappers seriously they are just entertainers its like watch a movie. You watch Saw where the killer tortures people etc...doesn't mean you agree with the message in Saw. Plus most people do not look at rappers as a source of morals(if you do you have some serious problems to begin with). Dog is suppose to be a better public figure he changed his life around became religious and suppose to be helping others get their life on track so if he does something questionable its going to be a bigger deal.

But what Dog said wasn't too bad in my opinion he had poor choice of words but I did not see any white supremacy black inferiority in what he said. He doesn't know how to control his mouth and knew it would be the end of him "It's not because she's black, it's because we use the word n*gger sometimes here. I'm not gonna take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for for 30 years because some f*cking n*gger heard us say n*gger and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine." He knows that things could slip out and because hes well known he could lose everything for what he says...pretty ironic to me. I mean if you look at the context of how he was saying it I don't think he's a klan member ready to torch some crosses or anything....he was worried about his language and losing everything because of it. I mean he did not know he was being recorded and he states its not because the person is black if a person was extremely racist he would have said a lot worse things. Like Mel Gibson's remark towards Jews "******* Jews...Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world". Dog made it clear it wasn't used in a 'I'm white and superior way' "If Lyssa brought a black guy home ya da da... it's not that they're black, it's none of that. It's that we use the word n*gger. We don't mean you f*cking scum n*gger without a soul. We don't mean that ****. But America would think we mean that."

Now do not think I am totally defending what he said his language was horrible and could have addressed it in a better way. And the use of the word does show plenty of ignorance and stupidity to say it knowing the consequences behind saying it and how people might take it.
