Question: i don't understand why they arrested him... because he was drunk or because he said he wouldn't leave the store? was the store open? the circumstances just sound really bizarre. do you think a regular person would be arrested for that?

I don't understand either.The news didn't say he was being disruptive.Ok,he was trespassing,meaning what?Walgreens was open or is a private property?I thought they are open 24 hours a day per ad on tv.What about the manager?What did he have to say about this?It boggles me.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said that security repeatedly told Shia, 21, “several times that he was not welcome in the store and must exit because he appeared to be intoxicated.” Shia was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing.
and yes, a regular person would be arrested for that. if you are asked to leave by security and you are drunk and you don't, you will be arrested if they call the police.
EDIT: oh, sorry then. but the reason he was arrested wasn't because he was drunk - it was because he was trespassing after they asked him to leave.

yap, he was arrested! It could've been for trespassing, not for being drunk if he was not underaged, unruly or driving under the influence.
it doesn't take much to get arrersted in this country. A 13 year old boy was arrested the other day her in FL because he was told to leave the movie house after the movie was over and he refused. What happened was that his parents had told him they'd pick him up at that spot and he was afraid if he left the agreed spot, his parents would be upset when they don't find him there. No, he did not have a cellphone. The employee of the movie place called the cops and instead of the cop to do something positive, he simply arrrestd the boy.
Of course the Judge (juvinille court) threw the trespassing charge out. but u jst wonder what the world is turning to.
