Question: In a weird kind of way, would you be in-directly telling people that it is cool to smoke? "Look, our president like to smoke, and if he/she can do it, why shouldn't I" I could lose some weight, and it is a wonderful appetite suppressant, especially when you get cancer.

you are reading WAY too much into it. Actually, I feel smokers are being picked on a bit too much. How many people does alcohol kill a year !?! I don't see them putting $3 taxes on each 6-pack that is sold.
Who cares if they smoke - I wanna know their stance on IMPORTANT issues. And I only hope that one day our president will be someone to mimic and look up to. Haven't had that in years.
