Don't you think that female stars...?!

Question: ... have a harder time because of the popularity than male stars?
Take for example, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. Do you hear of male celebrities having such difficulties so often?
Why is that?
Is it true what they say that you have "to be a b!tch to make it"? Like Avril Lavigne did?

In the past you'd hear about the same things with male stars--a few years ago it was Robert Downey Jr. who you'd always read about and wonder why anyone cares what the latest mess he made for himself is.

I do think that women have it tougher in a way, however. If a famous man plays the field a lot, his critics may say he needs to grow up, but he isn't going to be called sluut or other vicious names the way Britney (with only two boyfriends I've heard of), Lindsey, or Paris would be called by the public. It is a lot easier for a man to get away with the 'I don't care what people think' attitude than women.

I didn't know Avril Lavigne made it. Haven't seen or heard from her in a while.

I think it has something to do with their ages too...they are young and craving the fame..it is all they know, so they make sure they are seen! They are probably afraid of losing it all!

No I don't. I think that female stars are followed by paparazzi much more. After all, those magazines have to get their pictures from some where. There have been tons of guys who went through similar problems. Try Tommy Lee, Elvis Presley, Garcia, etc.

I think there are a lot of male stars that have similar problems, especially with alcoholism and drug use....but I think it's more scandalous when a female celebrity has those problems so their stories are the ones you hear more often.

I dunno...but how many male stars do you see climbing in & out of cars w/ their junk hanging out for display? Or dancing half naked on table tops?

I think it's just that if guys do drugs and drink and rehab, they aren't criticized while girls are, - it's the old idea where a guy is just living the high life, but a girl would be labelled all kinds of things for doing the same things!

I think its their age and their upbringing, mostly.

Too young to deal with it all, and with parents who are happy to see their kids prostitute themselves out at a young age, to keep those cheques coming in.

I dont think you have to be a ***** to make it. Except in THAT industry.

can't think of any boys!
hope that helps!
