Jackie Gleason died at home in Inverrary,Florida on June 24, 1987, of colon and liver cancer. He was a 6 pack a day smoker as well as a heavy drinker, so that no doubt contributed to his demise. In my opinion, he truly deserved his nick name "the Great One." His shows, many of which are fortunately on tape, are classics.

he died probably 15 or 20 years ago from heart problems resulting from his lifestyle which was very unhealthy; way overweight, chain smoking, etc. He was a great entertainener though.

No, Not sure when he dies. My guess is about 20 to 30 years ago. He was quite overweight so we could say heart disease or diabetes complications. I believe it was a heart attack.
Sory I cannot be more specific though I am certainly old enough to remember him on live TV.
He passed away in the early 80's. Don't recall the cause of death.
