Ellen Degeneres: What does she mean?!

Question: "I guess I signed a piece of paper that says if I can't keep Iggy, it goes back to the rescue organization, which is not someone's home, which is not a family," she said in a show transcript provided to The Associated Press.

I've adopted all my animals from the shelter for the last 20 years and we all have to sign saying that if we don't keep the animal then we'll turn in back into the agency. It's to keep people from putting helpless animals into unsafe or unsuitable homes.

Why should she be exempt from the rules if she's a celebrity? It's for the animals' protection, to keep people from "dumping" unwanted pets on unsuitable homes. People who don't want an animal are often more interested in getting rid of their "problem" than insuring that the poor beast is truly getting a good home.

If the hairdresser and her kids want the dog, let them go down to the shelter and apply to adopt it themselves! If they really are fit and proper people to provide a suitable home, the agency will decide and not Ellen Degeneres.
She was very upset when she was talking on today's show. She signed paperwork with a rescue organization to adopt the dog Iggy. She put the dog in classes to acclimate it to living with cats, but apparently he and her cats didn't get along, so she gave the dog to her hairdresser. It is against that organization's policy to give away an adopted dog to another household.

Dumb. Wouldn't it be better to assess the hairdresser's household instead of removing the dog? Isn't it more important that the dog has a loving family?
I agree with Ellen, I think it's more important for the dog to have a good family..To go and take the dog from it's new family was an extremely poor decision
She means that she admitted to signed the adoption contract, but did not fully read it carefully. The Mutts organization specifically requires all adopted pets to be returned to the organization in the event the adoptive pet does not work out. The organization will try to re-adopt the pet. Ellen goofed up by giving the pet to another family instead of back to the organization. She is sincerely apologetic and I truly believe she meant no harm. But, she is in breech of a contract.

I wish the media would stop jumping all over it and come to a quick resolution. Put the dog back with the hairdresser's family. Let the Mutts organization check out the new adoptive home to make sure it is a safe place for Iggy. Everyone is suffering-Ellen for admitting her error, the poor dog who is in some shelter or limbo waiting to be re-adopted, the hairdresser's family.
I AGREE WITH SHARON F. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES AND ELLEN THOUGHT SHE WAS DOING GOO DBY GIVING THE DOG TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD CARE FOR IT.
All I can say is, "Welcome to California and big government, Ellen."

Because, that's what big government does. Anything government can give to you, government can take away.
This seems like typical do gooder Volunteer organization, thats gotten too big for their own good mentality. They forget the reason and cause of the organization and end up just power hungry nazi rule enforcers. "its our way or death to you."
If not for the gay and lezbo agenda, this stupid story would not be in the news. Anyone else but lesbo Ellen, and this would have been tossed out long ago. Whats next, a "Save Iggy" march and rally?
