Phil Collins is his voice computerized ?!

Question: Somebody told me today that when Phil Collins sings that his voice is computerized through the microphone in concert or that his voice is some how enhanced through artificial means to give out a distinct tone. I cannot imagine a singer like him having to do that has anybody else heard of this or is this just crazy talk ?

Virtually every major vocalist in the recording industry now uses effects of some sort in the studio. Those who have really great voices usually add a very small amount of reverb or delay when singing live.

Other singers who need a little help staying in tune on stage use a digital effect called Autotune, which brings a vocal signal back into proper pitch, then can add other effects to help it blend in with the rest of the music. (Autotune has, however, been used in an extreme way to add a "glitchy", artificial effect to a voice. The most obvious use of Autotune for this effect is Cher's "Believe".)

As far as Phil is concerned, he had to take some time off from making music to let his voice heal some years ago. He may be using effects to compensate for a loss of projection. no that isn't true. he hs a problem with his hearing so he doesnt sing that often but he either sings live or playback. they dont computerize his voice Report It
