I'm not a big fan of it, but only because it reminds me of Mariah Carrey and I can't stand her. Unfortunately names usually pull out memories of other people with that name so as long as you like it and it doesn't hold any bad memories (ie a bully from school) then you should go with it. Agree with the Carey association thing. If you want to name your daughter though, think about what the name means to you first, then think about what other people might think about it.

What′s wrong with "Maria" by the way, dropping the H? it's one of my favorite names :) I named my daughter Mariah shes 9 now. but I do not care for Mariah Carey ......
I do love the name and sacrificed naming my daughter Mariah even though I knew people would ask me over and over if I named her after Mariah Carey
Which I was asked alot but that died off and 9 years later I have no regrets in the name I chose for my daughter

p.s. I also have a son Rocco who has just turned 1 They call the wind Mariah (song from the 50's ) too common. I think it is biblical..........but not my favorite. Like the others before me, I think of Mariah Carey. When I think of her, I think of her "singing", squealing like a stuck pig. As for the name itself, I like it but it does seem a little common. Been honest like a few have mention on this Mariah Carey. That was the first thing that entered my head when I hear that name. I personally don't like it.
