if you look closely, all three of them do it, during different songs.
It's just like, i guess, a dance move in a way.
(: i don't know but it's not about impressing miley cuz it is very hot and i don't know why he does it but it is very awesome and i luv nick sooooooooooooooooooooo much i guess cuz he's pumped! he's excited....? I have no idea which time you are referring to, when he is jumping.
If it's the VERY BEGINNING of the video... he is stretching because he is about to go on, the jump is sort of an excitement flare to me.
I saw no jump however once they got on stage.
And sweety, EVERY guitarist out there IN THE WORLD, jumps while holding his guitar, while playing music.
Nick is surely not the only one, and he did not create it. He is what is called a "follower" why not? lol he's happy =]
