Answers: because as a celebrity they have sertain responsibilities such as making appeances at film festivals and the red carpet and their movies partys. Plus, theres a lot of photographers and they like to be publiced.. attention wh*res if they do I'm going to a film festival 4 sure! Serious actors go to film festivals because they only show 'good' movies. That is, not the blockbuster garbage you normally watch. Like independent films that make you think, or foreign films with subtitles. They go mostly because they may be in one of the films. Many famous celebs are in great, small-budget movies that you've probably never heard of.
The two largest film festivals are Cannes, which is in France and Sundance, which is in Utah. Some do go for roles and to meet directors. But some go for the publicity and to just meet new people. Or their favorite actors. The festival I know is the sundance festival. They go to promote their movies. And to get contacts. There is the Sundance Film Fesival, and the Toronto Film Festival. I'm sure that there are others but that is all I can think of at the moment. to promote their film :)
