Why do people care so much about celebrities?

i was reading some magazine at the gym while i was waiting for my mom to finish working out, and there was this whole artical about miss lindsay lohan, so i read it just for the hell of it. usually, i don't read magazines ever, but whatever, i did today. apparently, lindsay has tried to kill herself a few times, wishes she was dead, and had some lesbian lover she refused to call a girlfriend named Samantha. wow. NOW, shes got some boyfriend she met in rehab. this girl is completely retarded.

quite honestly, i don't care. i just read the thing cause my mom wouldn't hurry up. may i ask what the hype is about celebrities? yeah, they give us entertainment, but how are their lives any more special than ours? why does our society care so much about them? everyday people have eating disorders, have mental issues, and get arrested for **** just like these celebrities do.

what pisses me off, that on our LOCAL NEW STATIONS.. they talk about stuff going on with these stupid celebrities. a prime example PARIS HILTON. who cares? she got caught with a DUI, got her license revoked, and then got caught driving without the license. big whoop. if you actually watch the news, that happens to people every day. get over yourselves. celebrities are people. read the newspaper, you'll probably find it more interesting than the bull they feed you in the magazines.

anyone else have an opion on the matter?

yeah i never knew why people are caring about them..
its like if that happened to you it wouldnt be in a magazine because you havent been in a million dollar movie like lindsay
people wouldnt care if you met a nice good looking boy in rehab cause you arent famous

but celebrities do this stuff just because they feel like people like you and me who arent as famous as them are getting attention..
like the runaway bride was famous for like a a couple months but people soon forgot about her and now alot of celebrities dont like how people who arent famouse are getting more publicity than them so they go all out just to get attention
and then they get it from us because they make @$$es out of themselves and we find it really annoying and stupid so we pay attention to it

also people care because they wnat to be just like them also

like i watched maury one day he ahd 9 year old on the show who wnated to be just like brittney spears they dressed like her they even act like her or will when they start getting boobs and get older..one girl even tried to shave her head..tehy care because they are trendsetting but to be quite honest suicide and being bald was never a trend
