Songs by david bowie?!

Question:

Songs by david bowie?

that have been used on the silver screen

Answers:

Quite a few!

The films which feature multiple Bowie numbers are 'Labyrinth', with six songs:

Opening Titles Including Underground
Magic Dance
Chilly Down
As The World Falls Down
Within You
Underground

'Absolute Beginners', with three:

Absolute Beginners
That's Motivation
Volare

And an obscure German film called Christiane F, which had, yep, nine:

1. V-2 SCHNEIDER (David Bowie) 3:10
2. TVC-15 (David Bowie) 3:29
3. HEROES/HELDEN (David Bowie/Brian Eno/Maass) 6:08
4. BOYS KEEP SWINGING (David Bowie/Brian Eno) 3:17
5. SENSE OF DOUBT (David Bowie) 3:57
6. STATION TO STATION (LIVE) (David Bowie) 8:50
7. LOOK BACK IN ANGER (David Bowie/Brian Eno) 3:06
8. STAY (David Bowie) 3:21
9. WARSZAWA (David Bowie/Brian Eno) 6:20

(I just cut and pasted that from a record site.)

Bowie acted in "Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence", but the soundtrack was written by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Bowie did write "Cat People" for the film of that name, however.

Funny thing is, the film with the greatest number of Bowie songs, as far as I know, (11) is Wes Anderson's 'The Life Aquatic', where Brazilian samba star Seu Jorge remade 11 Bowie songs - but they are all in Portuguese!

There was a cover version of "Changes" on one of the Shrek films, by Butterfly Boucher, I think. Bowie did a few backing vocals on that one.
