Why is Youtube so popular? Aren't there other video sharing sites similar to Youtube?
I was just wondering why Youtube is so popular? Aren't there other video sites that have the same features as Youtube, but are usually unrecognized?

Youtube's just really easy to use (upload), it's been around long enough, and there's lots of media hype about it (eg. videos regularly featured on the local news). But, yeah there are others: Y! Video, Google Video, Stage6 (DivX video site, some in HD quality), Veoh, and many others. But what's too bad about YouTube is that (right now), it converts all the videos to Flash in mid (aka horrible) quality. Try viewing videos in fullscreen on a PC monitor. They are switching over to MP4, however. Most other sites will allow SDTV quality. Stage6 I know has some HD content. Oh, and don't forget, Google owns YouTube. Which search engine do you use? Yahoo!? Or Google? (There's another reason.)
