Ibanez RG, Schecter Damien or ?? for punk?!

Question:

Ibanez RG, Schecter Damien or ?? for punk?

Cant decide which one to get. Looking into playing a style like TSOL, The Adolescents etc. Budget is no more than $500.

Answers:

For punk, you'll want to stay away from Ibanez. It's thin sound is mainly for solo playing.

A good punk set up is a Gibson or Epiphone SG, through a Marshall MG series 2x12 combo. Combo amps, instead of a half stack, will let the fast punchy riffs stand out with it's natural mid-crunch boost.

If you're looking for under $500, a Schecter is a good sub, but stay away from EMG pickups, it will have a high pitched fuzz tone when cranking the gain on your amp. Most Marshall combo amps run dirt cheap at pawn shops. See what you can find.
