Question:

It seems like today, there's like a million celebrities (actors/singers) but they don't have much talent?

they only seem to have looks and tons of publicity. this makes it tougher for people to realize talent. for instance, many people have a crush on orlando bloom. they go to see movies just because he's in it. what would happen if he was 50 lbs. heavier, had blemishes, and slightly crooked teeth. would they go see his movies then? what if beyonce wore her hair natural, was as dark as Alek Wek (i think she's gorgeous), and had the body of nicole richie, would she still be a sex symbol? what actors/actresses/singers do you know that have true talent, range, and natural beauty?
if this all sounds weird, i'm sorry, but this is just how i feel.
i want to hear what you think. please check back for additional details.
thanks.

I agree.

Tons of stars and starlets in the modern scene don't have much talent. They've got charming good looks and a fake, gorgeous veneer of personality, but they don't actually have talent.

For example, let's look at today's 'tween' situation. Look at them. Hannah Montana, Ashley Tisdale, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens... they're all stylish and cute, but in all honesty, they don't have an ounce of real acting/singing talent. But the kids ranging from ages 6-12 absolutely adore them. Why? Because they're pictured as the ideal idol. Really.

The real talent lies with stars who don't hog up tween/teen magazines. Sure, the paparazzi still have their eyes on them, but they're genuinely beautiful and talented. They can act. Most of them may not be ranging in the younger age, but hey, at least it's pleasant to see them on screen. And as for the singers, as Amy Lee (who is one of the few singers nowadays to possess real singing ability) of Evanescence said, "the more skin a singer shows, the less likely she wrote her own songs." It's true. Basically, the only way these vocalists are portrayed today are as "eye candy" and not as "ear candy."

It's pathetic.

And I apologize to anyone I've offended because this is my view.
