That is an excellent question! I know him and have known him since I was about 16. He hung out in our neighborhood in Ann Arbor, and I can honestly say he is nothing to write home about. He wasn't then and he never will be. His real name I am sure you know is Jim Osterberg. He and his friends used to ride my brother's go-cart around the neighborhood. I could not believe it when Ron and Scott Asheton asked him to be in the Stooges with them. I grew up with Scott and Ron and their sister Kathy was my best friend. That is also how I got to know Bob Seger cause they were all good friends and one of the Stooges, Dave
Alexande, all hung out at his house. Dave died suddenly from pneumonia and before you knew old Jim (iggy) was in the group. He is so digusting even still today. I saw Ron about 3 years ago in the neighborhood and I swear he weighed 350 pounds then. In school Ron and Scott had this drop dead good looks about them. I heard recently that the Stooges are doing a European tour together as a group again. I will never understand how a group who cannot sing and never could sing can go on tour and how iggy is so popular. If people knew him as my family knew him they would look the other way.I still can't believe he is touring with them.
Jim and Ron and Scott asked me and my sister what we thought of their song" I wanna be your dog". Trust me they all got the truth. If you ever want to catch seeing them and talking to them, they still hang out in our old neighborhood as they still do live there now, it's Lakewood Subdivision and as your entering the neighborhood across from the I-94 entrance by the cemetary.Just drive in an keep to the left and they live in the 3rd house on the left. Their backyard lines the fence to the cemetery.
I'm sure they are happy with me now but oh well.
